To adopt the words of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, “Emiratization requires taking a serious stand”.
Hence, Emiratization is a major priority for the UAE’s wise leadership, and, as the largest applied higher education institution in the UAE, it is also a major priority for the Higher Colleges of Technology.
Hence, HCT has already launched several initiatives to attract UAE nationals and has undertaken a number of steps to expand and diversify its learning outcomes and equip its graduates with professional skills to ensure their work readiness in the public and private sectors.
The SANAD initiative, which was launched in the academic year 2017-2018, was one of the key Emiratization initiatives targeting fresh graduates to enable them to acquire vital workplace experience and to find job opportunities in the labor market, with particular priority for jobs in the Higher Colleges of Technology. This initiative has attracted around 270 male and female graduates from 11 cohorts since its inception; out of whom 55 have been offered long-term employment in various positions at HCT, while 73 of the SANAD members have been appointed under temporary 3-6 month contracts. Others have completed their service under temporary contracts and received experience certificates, which qualified them for employment in various organizations and institutions.
