The HCT-Abu Dhabi campuses started the “Year of Tolerance” with a new, environmentally friendly initiative by planting roses in the campuses’ gardens, with the theme of Give a rose and spread the Smile.
The campuses’ green thumbs chose the “Al Ward Al Mohamadi” rose to be a symbol of tolerance and happiness throughout the campuses.
Dr. Aisha Abushelaibi Executive Director of the Abu Dhabi campuses, joined students, faculty and staff to plant the roses, reinforcing HH. Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan value on the importance of agriculture being used to attain stability and link citizens to their land.
The planting session echoed HH. Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan’s famous statement: “Give me agriculture and I will give you civilization“. This initiative was shared with all the 16 HCT campuses to spread happiness and raise the tolerance values among all HCT faculty and staff.
HH. Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan also stated with respect to Tolerance that: “To treat every person, no matter what his creed or race, as a special soul, is a mark of Islam.”
Dr. Aisha Abushelaibi stated: “Planting roses initiative is aimed at supporting the Year of Tolerance and raising the importance of nature and agriculture in the land we live in.”
