The HCT-Al Dhafra campuses have marked the Year of Tolerance with a weekly activity throughout 2019, as they celebrate the different nationalities of HCT staff at both Madinat Zayed and Ruwias campuses.
This activity kicked off in early February with the announcement of the activity in both campuses. All staff were encouraged to wear their national dresses for the occasion. Staff and students were extremely excited for the kick off of the activity, booths were spread around the campuses for different countries, each staff or student would reach out to their country of interest to sign up and volunteer to organize the day of his/her country of choice.Staff were encouraged to share a dish from their country, where students and staff enjoyed a huge variety of cultural booths and different food cosines.
” Tolerance is a virtue and an intrinsic part of the Islamic culture. It is observed at all levels: individual, organizational and national. With more than 200 nationalities living peacefully and successfully in the UAE, the UAE society has been an undisputed example of being a tolerant and inclusive country.” Mr. Taleb Obaid, Director of Al Dhafra campuses, said when he announced this event which will take place through out the year of tolerance.
The first country to be celebrated was India. India day in both campuses was a huge event with all staff, students, and community celebrating together, celebrating India heritage, culture, nature, dances, food, etc..
The celebration started with the UAE and India National Anthems. Followed by performances from Indian school students, and the Indian community. This was followed by Indian fashion show organized by volunteers from the community. Student, staff, and guests then took a round in the different stands which were arranged for the occasion, to reflect the different mix of cultures which are living peacefully in India. Giving the world one of the greatest examples of Tolerance.
India Day marked just the beginning of a busy year, celebrating the different cultures from all around the world.
