1 year

Students from the Applied Media Program at the Sharjah Women’s campus (SJW) visited the 2018 Sharjah International Children’s Film Festival, a project of FUNN, an organization established by Sharjah Government under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher Al Qasimi.

Sharjah International Children’s Film Festival (SICFF), launched in 2013, is the first children film festival in the country and the region. The festival is dedicated to enhance the media literacy of children and young people, foster children’s creativity and showcase the very best in film making for, by and about children and young people.

The aim of the festival is to bring in international films and new media content for youth and children in the region thus exposing them to world cultures and promote peace, tolerance and global understanding of how people from different cultures, religions and backgrounds live together. (

Students participated in two of the workshops from the number of workshops that were offered at the festival and found the experience enriching viz: Green Screen workshop and Photography workshop.

Mariam Najeeb, a Year-3 student, even suggested bringing the Green Workshop, presented by Mr. Ghassan Abdallah, Filmmaker/Lecturer from Next Public Relations, to the college as it was very interesting and would be beneficial to students taking the Editing and Short Video courses.
