The HCT-Abu Dhabi Women’s campus (ADW) hosted “From Ideas to Application – The Takamul Program for innovation and entrepreneurship”, presented Department of Economy Development, which attracted around 200 faculty across all HCT campuses.
Takamul Program is an innovation support program developed and operated by Department of Economic Development – Abu Dhabi (DED), and its mission is to help Emirati individuals, universities and enterprises in Abu Dhabi and the wider UAE, to protect and commercialize their innovative ideas.
The awareness session was the key stages of innovation (Intellectual Property IP, patents and IP Commercialization) more specifically, the education awareness points:
- Takamul services and how HCT faculty can apply for it
- The mechanics of IP protection, covering subjects such as copyrights, trademarks, designs, trade secrets and patents in great depth
- Provide HCT faculty inventors with a better understanding of the patent laws, patent filing process and how they can protect their innovations, both in the UAE and internationally.
Faisal Al Hamoudi Director of Takamul program, presented the overview of the Takamul program’s vision and mission; and services in the area of innovation. This was followed by Richard Gaugeler, CWB Project Advisor, Patent Attorney, who spoke about the importance of the intellectual property (IP) and the process to the implementation.
