The HCT- Al Ain Men’s campus (AAM) hosted the annual Design Thinking student competition, under the theme “Design, build and test mini solar race car” to encourage innovation and enhance the quality of design perception.
Around 200 first-year Engineering students, from all campuses gathered to compete in this competition which led to 38 participating teams.
The teams presented and tested their mini solar cars, in the presence of Professor Mohammad Aljarrah, HCT Vice President, Academic Affairs, and Ms. Hamsa Saleh, Executive Director of Al Ain campuses who was on hand to award the winning teams, as well as to congratulate all participants on their achievements.
The top three places were:
- Team number 25 from Fujairah Men’s campus (1stPlace)
- Team number 31 from Ras Al Khaimah Women campus (2ndPlace) and
- Team number 12 from Abu- Dhabi Women campus (3rdPlace)
The challenge also marked two special categories in which the winners were team number 25 from Fujairah Men’s campus with Best Race Time and team number 14 from Al-Ain Men’s campus with Best Innovative Design.
The Design Thinking competition is fulfilling the Emirati leaders’ vision in innovation by preparing Emirati youth to meet the recent challenges in the different fields of life and a common theme of the HCT 2.0 transformative vision, being “thinking out of the box.
