HCT-RAK campuses students’ innovative approaches to their learning were on display during the “Capstone Project Competition”, held at the campuses on December 9, 2018.
This competition was dedicated to the advancement of theory and practice of capstone projects in the various Faculties of Applied Media, Business, Computer and Information Systems, Education and Engineering.
Working in small groups of four to six, the teams draw on the strengths of each member, and projects were intended to be the result of the students’ undergraduate education, incorporating both significant hardware and software components. There were some individual projects and poster sessions as well. On the competition day, all the projects were evaluated under one umbrella with the inputs from the industrial representatives.
Valuable input came from industrial representatives from different organizations and sectors, as part of the evaluation of the student projects, with more than 70 projects were evaluated and graded by more than 25 industrial representatives.
Winners were awarded at the award ceremony, graced by the presence of Dr. Yahya Al Ansaari, Executive Director Ras Al Khaimah Campuses. Dr. Yahya highlighted the importance of the inventions by undergraduate students and application of their knowledge to invent new products.
For each of the academic divisions winners were announced for the first, second and third prizes. There was also an award for the best project of the year, which went to the Faculty of Business.
The Capstone Project Competition was initiated by Prof. Nathir Alrawashdeh, RAK campuses Dean Academic Operations, and organized by his office.
