Dr. Abdulla Al Suwaiji, HCT-Sharjah campuses Executive Director, and members of the Innovation Committee at Sharjah campuses visited Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority (SEWA), to explore ways of cooperation between the two organizations that could lead to innovative long term projects.

The aim is to utilize the knowledge and technology available at the Sharjah colleges with the expertise at SEWA to address key strategic sectors such renewable and clean energy, water scarcity, technology and education.

As a result of this visit a task force is being formed consisting of HCT-Sharjah students & staff and SEWA staff to collaborate and work closely at the Innovation Space Centre at the Sharjah campuses in order to come up with innovative solutions addressing the areas mentioned earlier.

Another planned outcome is to provide opportunities for college students in Training, Volunteering and prospective employment at SEWA. This comes as part of HCT policy to support The National Innovation Strategy that aims to make the UAE one of the most innovative countries in the world in the upcoming years.

According to the UAE National Innovation Strategy, “Innovation is defined as the aspiration of individuals, private institutions and governments to achieve development by generating creative ideas and introducing new products, services and operations that improve the overall quality of life”. Therefore, such partnerships and cooperation will create and induce innovative work environment that leads to success in the related field.
