HCT Students to Benefit from Wide Range of Services & Offers

The Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT) has joined forces with the Union National Bank (UNB) to launch an exciting rewards program, which will boost student happiness and enhance student life.

The “My Wallet” rewards program will offer students a tailor-made UNB-HCT credit card, that is linked to their HCT student IDs, which allows access to around 1,000 brands and outlets in the UAE, as well as restaurants, hotels, shopping and travel services.

The “My Wallet” launch, at the HCT-Abu Dhabi Men’s campus, included an agreement signing ceremony, with Dr. Abdullatif Al Shamsi, HCT President & CEO, and Mr. Mohammed Nasr Abdeen, CEO of UNB Bank, signing the agreement.

In attendance were HCT representatives Ahmed Al Mulla, Director of Student Affairs, Fatima Al Hammadi, Associate Director of Student Life, Dr. Ayesha Bushlaibi, Director of the HCT-Abu Dhabi campuses, Hamsa Al Ammari, Campus Director of Al Ain campuses, as well as a number of HCT students and representatives from both parties.

Dr. Abdullatif Al Shamsi emphasized HCT’s keenness to implement initiatives, such as the My Wallet, that support student life and boost student happiness and engagement. “This initiative provides saving opportunities to HCT students in numerous outlets across the UAE. The card also introduces students to a new financial culture, as they will think before making purchases and search for alternatives,” Dr. Abdullatif said.

Dr. Al Shamsi praised the cooperation between HCT and UNB in launching this initiative, which reflects the strong relations between the two institutions over the years. He pointed out that the first phase of the initiative covers 5,000 male and female students and will thereafter cover the remaining student body of 23,000 male and female students studying at HCT. HCT faculty and staff will also be able to take advantage of this privilege.

Mohammed Nasr Abdeen, CEO of UNB, mentioned that both UNB and HCT share the keenness to improve quality of services, so as to meet the needs of the community. He praised the efforts and continuous support of HE Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan, UAE Minister of Tolerance, and Chairman of the UNB Board of Directors.

Mr. Abdeen pointed out that UNB launches products that support the UAE’s strategic goals and enhance customers’ banking experiences, by merging several privileges and offers that cater to student needs. He added that facilitating students to make transactions through innovative banking products will also motivate them to find relevant solutions to societal problems in the future.

Mr. Ahmed Al Mulla, HCT Director of Student Affairs, said that about 5,000 students will receive their cards in Phase 1 of the initiative, while the remaining students will receive them in the near future. He mentioned that a range of other outlets and brands will be added in the future to meet emerging student needs, especially in the areas of education and health.

Miss Fatima Al Hammadi, HCT Associate Director of Student Life, said the “My Wallet” initiative will also cover HCT alumni in future phases, as the HCT sees its graduates as ambassadors in the UAE community and the labor market.
