The HCT-Al Ain Women’s campus (AAW) celebrated the spirit of Ramadan by hosting its annual Iftar night on the 19th of Ramadan, in celebration of Zayed Humanitarian Day.
As an extra feature this year, the event took place under the honorable patronage of H.H Dr. Sheikha Shamma Bint Mohammed Bin Khaled Al Nahyan, Chairperson of the Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khaled Al Nahyan Cultural Center, and honored the Late Sheikh Zayed’s Path of Uncountable Humanitarian Actions.
In celebration of Sheikh Zayed’s wonderful humanitarian legacy, the Iftar, held at the Ayla Hotel, saw orphan children from Al Ain city gathering with AAW staff and faculty and their families, as well as AAW current students, alumnae and representatives of the Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khaled Al Nahyan Cultural Center, to mark the breaking of the fast in an uplifting communal celebration.
The event started with the Maghrib call of prayer to break the fast with a well-organized feast, and continued under the lead of Mr. Omar Badran, Business faculty, who was the MC for the evening.
As part of the festivities, Mr. Badran created five famous historical characters for the audience to guess, including Albert Einstein, the famous mathematician and physicist. These characters caught the attention of the audience, increasing the competitive edge with guests trying to guess their identities. Those with correct answers were rewarded with prizes and tempting awards.
The Iftar also had a special kids’ corner that included many kids’ activities such as drawing, puzzles and a kids’ cinema that screened the much-loved movie “Madagascar” showing during the evening.
The Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khaled Al Nahyan Cultural Center then awarded the sponsors and AAW with a certificate of appreciation for help in organizing this community Iftar. The UAE Red Crescent was one of the sponsors who created a live show of the Iftar in their special snap chat account that night.
H.H Sheikha Shamma Bint Mohammed Bin Khaled Al Nahyan, Chairperson of the Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khaled Al Nahyan Cultural Center, also organized special awards and gifts for the orphan children, to accompany those offered by AAW, as small gestures of kindness and care.
Mrs. Hamsa Saleh Al Ammari, AAW Director, commented, “The Holy Month of Ramadan gathers in its wonderful nights a huge amount of goodness and spiritual blessings. AAW organizes this Iftar annually, and this year it had a special memorable feature to it.”
“To honorably collaborate with the Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khaled Al Nahyan Cultural Center and to spend this day with our beloved kids was priceless to AAW. The night was magical and we’re glad to have had a chance to share this year’s Iftar with our beloved kids,” Mrs. Hamsa added.
