HCT-Al Ain Men’s campus (AAM) Computer Information Science (CIS) senior student Saif Alkaabi has been active in extra curriculum activities, especially in outreach projects to help share knowledge with school students.
Saif is currently leading the AAM CIS club, as president, and has been giving lectures on IT security at different Al Ain schools as part of an awareness program for Information Security to school students using mobile phones and internet. He also delivered a seminar on the internet history and introduced the variety of social media applications and their features at the Khalifa School, Al Ain, where he demonstrated different categories of the Internet which include deep web, dark web and surface Internet.
Moreover, he introduced some of the common techniques used by the hackers in the social media. These techniques have been very successful to hack the victim devices and private information. Saif also showed the best practices to students to safe guard themselves from hacker’s attacks on their personal machines/devices and to protect internet users from hackers & assured the importance of the UAE laws.
Proving that you are never to young to learn about IT security, Saif also gave a lecture at the Alnakeel Kindergarten. He used basic tools to attract children’s attention by presenting cartoon movie and read a short story to them. He also gave them basic information about computer and its applications.
Dr. Yahya al Ansaari, AAM Director, highly appreciated Saif;’s extra curricula and outreach activities. He encouraged him, and other students, to organize such activities, particularly IT security awareness programs on regular basis and to contribute to the society in a positive and constructive way.
