The childcare centre at the HCT-Sharjah campuses has instilled in their young charges a love of cooking from an early age – and what better way than to start with making delicious pizzas.
The centre operates on the philosophy of teaching the children the fun of cooking, which they hope will remain with them for many years. During cooking time, a child doesn’t only learn about ingredients and recipes, it’s about harnessing imagination, empowerment, and creativity. Combined with this approach is the understanding that children need to eat healthy foods, while enjoying the cooking.
The centre organized a trip to Pizzaro to attend a cooking event for the tiny chefs to flex their creative muscles, spend time working in peer groups and, best of all, a great way to introduce them to the joy of cooking and baking.
The restaurant hall was transformed into a learning lab for thet children to involve all their senses. While kneading, tossing, pouring, smelling, cutting, and feeling foods they have fun and learn without being aware of it.
During the cooking sessions children learnt valuable skills, such as comprehension, as they followed the chef demonstration, wearing gloves and head caps while working. They also build a strong foundation for healthy eating.
