SJM Foundations Students Given Helping Hand with Program Choices

Foundations Cycle 3 students at the HCT-Sharjah Men’s campus (SJM) were given an introduction to their future program choices when the campus hosted its Foundations Assembly on February 18.

The event combined Career Choice presentations from the various SJM Faculties and a short presentation of announcements and news related to the remaining Foundations academic year.

Program chairs and speakers from the Business, Computer Information Science, Engineering, and Health Science Faculties gave a brief overview of the courses offered by their respective departments, along with advice of what skills and abilities students would need to enter the various programs.

Displays were set up around the outer area of the MPH where students were able to speak with program representatives and observe the exhibits. On the Veterinary Science stand, current students exhibited live animals, pets, and reptiles. They also prepared mini cupcakes and chocolate marshmallows to encourage the Foundations students to visit their booth.


Regarding the SJM Foundations announcements, students were reminded of the upcoming exam dates for Cycles 3 and 4 by SJM Foundations Coordinator Mr. Mokhtar Bourchak. He advised students about the upcoming exam schedule, and that they should take care to make a career choice which suited their overall talents and abilities.

Following this certificates were given to Ahmed Rehmatullah Abdul Jabar and Mohamed Arif Abdalla Alburaimi Alzarooni for 100 per cent attendance rating in cycle 2.  Certificates were also given to the following students for the best academic achievement in Cycle 2:

  • Rashid Muhair Ail Qabid Alteneiji
  • Mohamed Salim Rashid Aljrwan Alshami
  • Rashed Mohamed Sulaiman Ahmed Alali
  • Ahmed Rashid Mohamed Obaid Aljeraishi

And finally, eight students who had participated in the 2018 Student Focus Group meeting were given certificates of appreciation for their attendance and contribution to the discussion.  Dr Abdulla Al Suwaiji, SJM Director, joined the closing of the assembly and he highlighted the importance of social responsibility to the students in this year of Sheik Zayed. He advised students to do their best in the upcoming exams, and to make career choices which suited their aspirations.
