A group of over 50 HCT-Fujairah Women’s campus (FJW) Bachelor students recently participated in a voluntary environmental initiative, organized as part of the General Studies Life and Study Skills Course.
The students, from the Applied Media, Computer Information Systems, Health Sciences, Business and Engineering programs, eagerly got their hands dirty for a good cause as they targeted cleaning the beautiful Fujairah main beach in a two-day clean-up projects. The faculty supervisors happily reported that all students actively took part in this event and reflected very positively on this experience.
This student-oriented project complemented HCT’s ongoing support and encouragement for student volunteering programs, aiming to support student growth, social maturity and responsibility.
For most students this was the first time they cleaned a public place or beach, expressing that the experience played an important role in bringing about a sense of moral, social and national responsibility in themselves.
They also commented that from now on they will certainly be ambassadors for clean beaches and oceans among their family and friends, and will ensure they don’t leave trash behind.
