The HCT-Al Ain Women’s campus (AAW) started the new calendar year by welcoming its latest cohort of students at an informative orientation program for Semester 2 on 10th January, 2018.
The orientation was organized by the AAW Student Services team and the Engagement and Outreach department. The event included an introduction of each department and academic faculty in the college to guide the new students, as well as a presentation of the HCT rules and regulations.
Mrs. Hamsa Al Ammari, AAW Director, welcomed the new students to HCT and the campus in a motivating and uplifting address. “I would like to welcome you all to your second home and family at HCT, and I’m really delighted today to see so many new bright faces and such potential here at AAW,” she said.
“2018 is the year of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. We as Emirati citizens have a great love for our late father and this year will witness great initiatives from us all as Emirati citizens and HCT family as well. We are all here to serve your needs and aid you in achieving your goals by providing you with the best learning environment, learning resources and facilities. We are here to support and help you, so you only need to ask,” she added.
Foundations supervisor Stephen Aston welcomed the students and introduced himself and Ms. Reem Al Otaibi, Foundations Administrative Assistant, as the first point of contact to help students deal with queries about courses, schedules and attendance.
The orientation session also saw the following issues discussed:
- Student ID Cards, gate regulations, Methaq and transportation
- AAW gym hours, clubs, student life and activities
- Financial aid
- The HCT portal and Blackboard Learn
- The Student Council
- Health and Safety
- Learning resources
- Awards and scholarships
- Registration and Academic Services
The AAW Student Council Association members also introduced themselves, and explained the AAW rules and welcomed any suggestions or questions from the new students.
Bushra Awad, SCA President, said: “On behalf of the SCA I welcome you all today and I hope you spend a great day today learning and enjoying your first day at HCT-AAW. The SCA is here to assist you with your needs and to help deliver your suggestions and voices as well. You will see me a lot and the members of the SCA as well and I’ll be near you for any help as well. I hope you have a great year ahead.”
