A group of Business students from the HCT-Sharjah Women’s campus (SJW) visited the headquarters of DUCAB with a view to seeing marketing theories in practice.
DUCAB, an award winning company, is one of the leading cable providers across the GCC. In the last decade, the company has been successful in securing large number of contracts globally. Strong marketing strategy and its implementation play a significant role in the success of DUCAB.
Since the SWC students are currently studying BUS 4563 Strategic Marketing Management, they were keen to relate the in-class theoretical marketing strategy to a real-life experience. The visit to DUCAB, where they were accompanied by their instructors Dr. Mohamed Bilal Basha and Ms. Anamika Misra, provided a great opportunity for them to understand the macro and micro forces and the way marketing strategy actually works.
The students enjoyed the presentation given by Ms. Shaima Mayouf, an HCT alumnus, who is now DUCAB’s Marketing Department Assistant Manager. They actively participated in the discussion revolving around the company’s marketing strategy related to EXPO 2020 and Dubai Vision 2030. The visit not only helped the students to understand the concepts of marketing but also enabled them to link their marketing project to industrial benefits.
Wedad Mohamed Qambar Hussain Al Maazmi, a Semester Six student, said they learned many concepts and played marketing simulation games. When visiting the company and hearing from marketing professionals, “it helped us to turn the theoretical knowledge into practical implementation.”
Shamma Hamad Fahad Saif Al Ali, Semester Six student, wished that she could have many more visits like this. “Watching an ex-HCT student deliver such a fascinating presentation made us confident in ourselves as marketing representatives,” she said.
Students were very grateful to the DUCAB management team for providing this amazing opportunity to learn about the company and gain real-life experience.
