From working in a zoo environment to helping with community sports, people with special needs, national charities and happiness programs, the students at the HCT-Al Ain Women’s campus (AAW) were offered a cornucopia of choices in which to help the community, as the campus hosted its Volunteer Fair on November 14, 2017.
The AAW auditorium was abuzz with the noise of many interactions hundreds of students, from all programs and levels, had with representatives of 11 community organizations and governmental agencies throughout the day.
The organizations which actively participated in the AAW Volunteer Fair were:
- Al Ain Center for Care and Rehabilitation
- Zayed House For Islamic Culture
- Abu Dhabi Sports Council
- Wadi Adventure
- Al Watan Volunteer team
- Al Ain Zoo
- Ambassadors of the UAE Council
- Emirates Association for Positivity and Happiness
- Red Crescent
- Voluntary Happiness Program
Miss Aljazia Aletaibi, AAW Assistant Manager of Student Life, said the response by both students and participating organizations was overwhelmingly positive, judging by the large number of students who actively registered throughout the day, and the feedback from the organizations’ representatives.
In order to fulfill HCT’s graduation requirement of 100 unpaid community service hours, the students were able to ascertain the types of community and volunteer opportunities on offer with the entities, so as to match their areas of interest and to fit in with their busy study schedules.
It was also an opportunity for the volunteer-based organizations to showcase the many valuable community-based projects in which students could participate.
