AAW Team Reaches Final Round of 3rd Annual SHRM MENA Student Case Competition

3 years

The Business students at the HCT-Al Ain Women’s campus (AAW) continue to show their prowess and acumen in practical skills and learning when a student team reached the final round of the 3rd Annual SHRM (Society for Human Resource Management) MENA Student Case Competition for the second year in succession.

An AAW team is comprised of Hamda Yousef Hamad Salem Al Hanaee (Captain), Mariam Mohammed Khamis Rashed Al Alawi, Alia Mubarak Saeed Hamad Al Shamsi, and Maitha Salem Khamis Saeed Al Meqbaali.

AAW is one of the top four teams to be shortlisted from a total of 12 submissions received at the undergraduate level, with competition organisers classifying the AAW submission as being of a high caliber.

The team solved the comprehensive SHRM Case Study covering multiple aspects of Human Resource Management that brought into play various hard, soft and transferable skills. The students, under the mentorship of Dr. Manishankar Chakraborty, worked on the Case Study by aligning the concepts learnt in the classroom as well as from diversified external sources derived from the AAW library.

The team will now proceed to the final round to present the solutions elucidated as part of the Case Analysis during Round One at the Informa HR Summit & Expo on Monday November 6, from 5:15 pm-6:30 pm at the Dubai International Exhibition & Convention Center. The team will be mentored by Dr. Manishankar Chakraborty and Mr. Rashid Ashraf for their presentation.

Mrs. Hamsa Saleh Al Ammari, AAW Director, congratulated the students on their efforts.

“These platforms are ideal for the pupils to have a practical and thorough understanding of the knowledge learnt in the classroom and I feel proud of their achievement and wish them good luck for the final round,” she said.

The team’s great effort was also acknowledged and appreciated by Mr. Omar Badran, HR Coordinator of the AAW Business Department. He opined that such exposure adds to the depth of the students as well as the faculty members.

Dr. Mansoor Khwaja, AAW Business Division Chair, congratulated the team on their success for continuing the winning streak started by their seniors. He encouraged the team to clinch the champions’ trophy this time.
