A group of four CIS students at HCT-Al Ain Women’s campus (AAW) have used their eyes and senses to develop an innovative concept for a smart evacuation system, which could greatly benefit emergency workers and the public.
The system utilizes an Augmented Reality (AR) system which helps users probe their own way in cases of emergencies without waiting for external intervention.
The enterprising foursome proposed the concept to Colonel Rashid Khalifa Al Buflasa, Director of Fire and Rescue Department at the Dubai Civil Defense, who praised the level of the students and their awareness of the community requirements.
Colonel Rashid offered full support and provided recommendations to include features that update users of any change in environmental variables. Furthermore, Colonel Rashid expressed his appreciation to the students for sharing their innovative idea with the Civil Defense and their recognition of the critical role the Civil Defense plays as a service provider entity.
Students have been promised a meeting with the Communication Division at the Civil Defense Department for coordination and cooperation to make sure the concept sees the light of day.
The team will work in close collaboration with the Dubai Civil Defense and frequent meetings will be held to finalize the system, taking into account the recommendations of the Civil Defense.
The CIS Division in HCT encourages student integration with industry and community service providers to contribute to the wellbeing of the residents of the UAE.
