Sheikh Hazza bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, Undersecretary of the Court of the Abu Dhabi Ruler’s Representative in the Eastern Region, opened the ninth edition of Al Ain Book Fair, which presents several intellectual publications by Emirati writers in various fields of literature, poetry and history.
The Al Ain Men’s campus’s (AAM) Library, together with the AAM Book Club, eagerly participated in the fair, held at the Al Ain Convention Center. The exhibition opened with a musical performance entitled “Paradise of Zayed”, by a group of talented children who sang Emirati, Arab and English songs.
The fair which ran from September 24 – October 2, returned for its ninth edition in celebration of the Emirati writer, by hosting a group of writers from the UAE who addressed the impact of cultural and local social environment on their intellectual upbringing.
The AAM Book Club purchased a number of English and Arabic books to add to their growing collection for their monthly group reading task. Some of the Book Club members also worked with Takatof, the volunteer organization, and spent their time working with local school children to encourage and inspire them to read.
Dr. Yahya Al Ansaari, AAM Director, said: “All students are encouraged to read and participate in events related to reading. Students must read different books from different disciplines that will enrich their knowledge and make them wise in life.”
Al Ain Book Fair showcased books published by more than 90 exhibitors presenting thousands of titles, that include scientific and literary references in both Arabic and English.
