The halls, classrooms and open spaces of the HCT-Abu Dhabi Women’s campus (ADW) were once again filled with the noise and chatter of young women during the week of August 20, as the campus welcomed over 2800 students, including 500 new students, for the 2017-18 academic year.
The newly registered students were warmly welcomed by Dr. Aisha Abushelaibi, herself recently appointed to the role of ADW Director.
“I extend my greetings to all ADW staff and students. In collaboration with all ADW staff members this year promises to offer access to high quality learning experiences, and a vibrant college community, including engagement with employers empowering each individual to plan for a successful future,” Dr. Aisha said.
The eager students were then introduced to the college’s support services, facilities and activities with a series of presentations by academics and support staff, who also gave the students an insight into what to expect in the upcoming academic year. In a full agenda, the students also met with staff from the Student Services, Academic Services, Counselling and Career Advising departments who will support them through their academic journeys at ADW.
The ADW’s industrious Happiness Committee, led by Mariam Al Fahim, welcomed returning faculty, staff and students with a novel and fun approach – delicious, soft-serve ice creams and welcome greeting messages in all staff offices.
“We wanted to welcome teachers, students and staff to the campus with a happy beginning. It was to give them a smile and wish them the best of success this academic year, and to enjoy their time at ADW,” Mariam Al Fahim said.
