The new cohort of Applied Media students at the HCT-Abu Dhabi Men’s campus (ADM) were welcomed into the programme with a formal orientation on September 5.
The orientation was aimed at helping students develop a holistic understanding of various aspects of their chosen programme pf study.
In a detailed presentation, Programme Coordinator, Rizwan Wadood, covered crucial aspects like programme duration, concentrations available, the exit option of Higher Diploma, details of the courses of study, nature of the programme delivery, student advising, student volunteering and community engagement.
Details about specializations were provided by the faculty members from the respective majors. Dr. Awwad Abu Zaineh gave details of the Public Relations and Communications courses in Arabic, while Leo Wong delved into the need for aptitude, visual thinking and technical knack to pursue the Video Production major. Zakaia Cvitanovich stressed upon the understanding of interplay of colors, elements and their placements for a successful study in Graphic Design concentration.
This was followed by a guided tour of the campus’s Applied Media facilities by Reynante Sanchez, the department’s Lab Engineer. The tour included a visit to the TV studio and audio recording room, as well as a detailed familiarization session about at the Media Lab.
The session concluded with the faculty members invoking students to adopt and make the best of the interactive and applied nature of the course delivery.
