HE Dr Saif Saleh Al Seiari, Director General of Abu Dhabi Water and Electricity Authority (ADWEA), and Dr. Yahya Al Ansaari, AAM Director, recently shared in a milestone event for the UAE, as they witnessed the operation of a power station by a number of UAE nationals.

This is the first operation to be carried out completely by Emirati employees, without the intervention of the ADWEA’s technical team. This was part of the Authority’s plan to localize the technical and vital functions of its plants by training the country’s citizens and enhancing their competencies.

A number of HCT students took part in a summer training course at the Al Mirfa Power Company, during which they gained the technical skills necessary for the dismantling, installation, operation and suspension of the turbines and the speed of the turbine. In addition to being able to connect the turbine to the main network and restart it where necessary, and connect to the control center, and master all the technical skills required for this.

Dr. Yahya Al Ansaari expressed his appreciation to AAM students who participated in running the power station and their keenness to enhance their skills and proficiency in the work field.

“We are proud of our engineering students who will be the manpower of the future of this great country, the United Arab Emirates,” Dr. Al Ansaari said.

The AAM Engineering students expressed their joy at their ability to complete all the required work during a short period of training. They thanked Al Mirfa Power Company for their efforts in training them.
