ADW Celebrates Emirati Women’s Day with Forum of High-Achieving Alumnae

The HCT-Abu Dhabi Women’s campus (ADW) celebrated Emirati Women’s Day, on August 28 with a highly entertaining and interactive Emirati Women’s Forum attended by the campus’s student, Emirati employees and alumnae.

The annual Emirati Women’s Day is declared by HH Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, the Mother of the Nation, and is convened by the Emirati Women’s Forum to celebrate and recognize the achievements of Emirati women in all facets of life, business and industry.

The ADW Forum recognized Emirati women and honored their role in serving the nation, while highlighting Emirati women’s success stories, the challenges they face and how they overcome any obstacles. Around 200 attended the forum including students, staff and alumnae.

One of the guest speakers was Khawla Al Fahim, Manager of the Abu Dhabi Spatial Data Center Department and Acting Manager Abu Dhabi Contact Center Department Manager in Abu Dhabi Systems and Information Center.

Khawla holds an MBA from University of Strathclyde and a Bachelor degree in Business Information Technology from HCT. Throughout her career, Khawla has been a keynote speaker at major regional and international platforms, such as ESRI UC San Diego, GISWORX Dubai and EGovernment Forum – Bahrain. She has also won many awards, such as the Digital Transformation in GIS Award, Special Achievement in GIS and the Smart City Award.

Another speaker was Sumaya Almaskari, the owner of Petals Flowers and Events business. Sumaya is an inspiration to many women who are seeking to set up their own businesses. She told the audience that she likes to rely on herself in her business, rather than other people.

Sumaya also noted that the UAE Government is very supportive of Emiratis, such as herself, who are eager to set up their own businesses. She also noted that her business success was also due to great support from her family and friends. Sumaya holds an MBA from Abu Dhabi University and Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from HCT.

The last Speaker was Aamna Al Mansoori, ADW Head of Campus Services, and HCT Chief Happiness & Positivity Officer. She the author of two Arabic novels – “Aynakee ya Hamda” and “Al Qalb Yaqthan”. Aamna has also written TV scripts for Freej. She has won many awards, such as the Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khaled Al Nahyan Award and the RAK Police Head Department outstanding Award.
