In order to merge social life with the academic life of Sharjah Women’s (SJW) students, the Student Services Department, in collaboration with the Department of Family Development Center-Sharjah, organized an important and unique event – “Mawada”, which means affection in Arabic.
This was aimed at both those contemplating marriage and those already married.
The aim of the initiative was to educate the students on how to build a stable family and to raise their awareness of their cultural values. The event offered specialized workshops focusing on personal, psychological, social, health and legal aspects needed for the stability and security of the family.
More than 60 SJW students enjoyed the interactive workshops of three inspirational and influential speakers from UAE society – Dr.Abdelaziz Alhammadi, Head of Family Affairs Division- Dubai Courts; Mrs.Fatima Buharoun, founder and owner of Takamol Training Center, and Mr.Hamid Al Ali, a financial consultant at Dubai SME.
The event garnered positive feedback from students and faculty and left the students with the insight that family life is a shared responsibility which requires proper planning and hard work from both partners to ensure its success.
