The parents of Foundations students at HCT-Al Ain Men’s campus (AAM) were given a good insight into the HCT’s new Technical Studies Programme at a 90-minute forum on the new 21st century skills-based inititiative.
This programme is designed to provide students with the practical skills and knowledge that UAE employers within their chosen field value. This programme relies on learning through practical experiences – focusing on the skills that employers look for when recruiting employees. In addition to the job related skills and knowledge the students will gain, the programme has embedded key employability skills.
Under the Programme, students can choose from a range of different specializations, such as Information Technology, Customer Service, Engineering, Human Resources, Occupational Health and Safety and Financial Services.
As students complete different components of the programme they will receive an international certification for the qualifications that they achieve through the HCT’s partner awarding body – NCFE, (Northern Advisory Council for Further Education) in the UK.
Following the presentation, the parents had the opportunity to participate in the Q & A session and discuss how we can work together to support students to achieve the entry requirements for the Technical Studies Programme.
Dr. Yahya Al Ansaari, AAM Campus Director, said that “Parents should be familiar with this new programme offered at HCT in order to identify the right specializations. Students must understand that they are supported by parents, management, faculties, and staff to be successful in the new program. Their success is our success.”
