The Al Ain Men’s campus (AAM) has reached out to help raise enthusiasm and interaction among its student body during the holy month of Ramadan by launching a number of initiatives covering a range of topics including volunteering, innovation, talent activities and competitions.
The Ramadan initiatives included:
- Al Khair Box – A charity event in collaboration with the UAE Red Crescent to collect different items for Ramadan or Eid in a box.
- Ramadan in a Picture – This is a photography competition where students take pictures of different scenes or events during Ramadan. Three winners will be selected and awarded prizes.
- Ramadan Competition – This a weekly Question and Answers competition about Ramadan, with four prizes being awarded.
- Ramadan on Planet Mars – This is a competition for students to create an article or a painting, imagining Ramadan on the planet Mars, with two prizes to be awarded.
AAM students showed great social responsibility by volunteering and participating in the Al Khair Box initiative, for which AAM collaborated with the UAE Red Crescent Foundation to collect different items, in boxes, for Ramadan and Eid Al Fitr.
There have been many unique and innovative posts received, noting the perceptions of students and faculty about spending Ramadan on Mars. A number of many surprising scientific facts were also revealed by the students analyzing the possibility of spending the holy month of Ramadan on a planet other than the Earth.
The Ramadan in a Picture photography competition has proven to be highly popular as it reveals many students’ talents in capturing the spirit and meaning of Ramadan.
