The HCT-Al Ain Women’s campus (AAW) Education faculty and students showed how highly the local teachers are regarded when they hosted an appreciation banquet for 75 primary-level mentor teachers and 60 kindergarten-level teachers on April 26.
These experienced teachers from ADEC and private schools work with AAW Education teachers-in-training during practicums that can last up to 10 weeks in a semester. This gesture was to appreciate and award their mentoring efforts throughout the year.
At the banquet, graduating students and their mentor teachers spoke of the importance of the practicum process in developing the next generation of qualified Emirati teachers.
Kesha Oliver, Education Division faculty, spoke highly of the mentors. “We were pleased that so many ADEC teachers who served as mentors to our students were able to attend the Teacher Appreciation Luncheon,” she said.
“Their cognitive coaching and reflective practice skills serve as an invaluable tool for our student teachers. We will continue to foster our partnership with the ADEC schools in Al Ain and continue to encourage all teachers to become mentors to the future Emirati educators of this country,“ she added.
