The HCT-Sharjah campuses’ Special Needs Committee has brought joy and fun to the local community by organizing, in collaboration with Sharjah Women’s campus (SJW) Education students, the second Spring Festival for children with special needs, held on April 19.
The event opened with inspiring and heart-felt words from Dr. Muhadditha Al Hashimi, SJW Director, and Dr. Abdulla Al Suwaiji, Director of HCT Sharjah Men’s campus (SJM).
The fun-filled event hosted approximately 90 special needs students, and their carers, from Al Wafaa School for Developmental Training, Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services (SCHS), and the Sharjah Autism Center. Many HCT students, faculty and staff were on hand to ensure the day was a total success.
The lively event, held at the campuses’ sports complex, included a variety of educational and recreational activities for children, featuring arts and crafts activities, drawing and painting, Lego puzzles, a puppet show, sports activities, interactive games, a gift corner, and other entertaining activities.
There were a number of inspiring booths, including booths set up by Al Natiq Technology Center. In addition, SJW Education and Engineering students set up an Innovation Booth and a Sensory Awareness Booth. The festival included a performance by the Sharjah Police Band and the famous “Dubai Drums”.
It was a wonderful day, with everyone enjoying themselves and fun, inclusive community atmosphere.
The festival ended with lunch for all, after which the children gave their farewells with smiles, laughter and fond memories.
