Fujairah Women’s campus (FJW) students have highlighted the array of their innovative and creative business ideas during a recent Innovation & Entrepreneurship Challenge, conducted as part of their Innovation and Entrepreneurship course.
The competition was held under the theme “We are shaping the future…” and saw 15 teams from the Business Division and two from the Health Sciences Division devote time, energy and creativity to present their prototype concepts, as they vied for top honours.
The vibrant display of innovative ideas saw a very high standard of entries, and the competition was judged by FJW faculty members Dr. Adel Zairi and Shaindra Sewbaran who had the difficult task of selecting the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners. The teams were judged on a range of criteria, including the strength of their pitch, idea novelty and commercial viability.
In 1st place was the ‘Personal Shopping Assistant Bag’, 2nd place was awarded to the ‘Smart Desk’ and 3rd place went to the ‘Travel and Tourism App’.
Both the judges and the visiting faculty were impressed with the professionalism of the pitches in the inaugural event and look forward to future showcases.
“I have enjoyed the evolution of my students’ ideas to a prototype. It is so great to see them thinking outside the box. It is a great course that for sure is going to have big impact on our students’ future life,” Suhair Alwahabi, Course Instructor and event organizer, said.
