Groups of primary school students huddled around Dubai Men’s (DBM) student volunteers as they were engaged with children’s stories to ignite their imagination and curiosity.
Students from Al Nokhba Model School were treated with a day full of learning with books read by students and Dubai Men’s Director, Dr. Khaled Al Hammadi.
The students then recited various Arabic poems and chants learned in school. They were eager to share what they learned in school with DBM volunteers and spoke of ambitions to be future leaders. A variety of activities were held for them and they were shown a movie to end the day.
DBM student Ahmed Almarzooqi said: “We were happy to see the students and treated them like our little brothers, it was important for us to read to them and capture their interests in various ways.”
“It is integral for our community outreach programs in HCT to involve school students from a young age. We are eager to develop our education programs in unison to enable graduates to meet the future needs of the UAE,” Dr. Khaled Al Hammadi mentioned.
Today a Reader, Tomorrow a Leader program will continue to target more schools and encourage reading habits for youth as part of the various reading campaigns adopted during the Year of Reading.
