The Sharjah Men’s campus (SJM) library was transformed into an art gallery for a day on April 12 as the venue for an art competition, showcasing student and staff art pieces.
The competition was successful in encouraging students and staff to express their artistic and creative abilities through a variety of media, including pencil, watercolour, and ink to create the stunning artworks.
The library’s open spaces allowed the students and staff to enjoy viewing each piece at the same time as they rated them for the competition. In addition to the Library, the art works were displayed in several locations, including the SJM cafeteria and G Block,.
The art competition was organized by the Japanese Club and was spearheaded by the student leader, Sultan Al Zarooni, with generous support from Library Technician, Alya Qabeel.
One of the participants, Omar, said that it had been a fun experience to draw with everyone and see other people’s. He further commented that he was glad to see that “the passion of artists still dwells [within them] even if they’re majoring in different subjects”.
