A group of HCT-Fujairah Women’s campus (FJW) Applied Media students have showcased their pride and love for their country in winning fashion when they won first prize in a National Day Film Competition, held at City Center Fujairah.
Prior to the competition the students were asked to participate in the National Day celebrations. The class immediately showed such enthusiasm, as well as genuine passion, gratitude, pride and love for their country that they were practically bursting with ideas and contributions. So great was their national pride that the students were inspired to share something spectacular with the local community that was never done before in Fujairah.
Their final idea was to stage a Flash Mob at Fujairah City Centre which involved many small activities dedicated to the significance of this special day. Some of the activities included, poetry recitals, piano recitals, distribution of flags to the community and singing of patriotic songs to ignite the passion and love for the UAE.
The FJW students invited students from the Fujairah Men’s campus (FJM) to help with preparattions, who happily agreed to assist in the preparations and rehearsals to ensure the project was a huge success. The male students were equally eager to participate in the flash mob event, while directing, filming and editing was done by the FJW media students.
“We wanted to show our love and pride of our country and we were thrilled to have succeeded in this” said Applied Media student Nojoud Mohamed.
The FJW students maintained their commitment to the project by submitting their short film in the Al Oroba Club Short Film Competition. They were rewarded by winning first prize, outclassing video submissions from all over the UAE.
Suhair Alwahabi, FJW Media instructor, said she was extremely proud of the students. “I am very proud of my students. They showed creativity, talent and outstanding team-work skills. It is heart- warming to see their drive, passion and love for our beloved country,” Suhair said.
