The HCT-Dubai Women’s campus’s (DBW) Academic Services team recently organized its annual CV Clinic Week for students, to assist them in developing high-quality CVs and to make them more eligible for jobs in the local market place.
The CV Clinic Week is a great opportunity for the students to engage with industry experts in a lively and interesting atmosphere and get first-hand feedback on their CVs.
Over 200 DBW students interacted with industry experts throughout the week and learnt how to boost their employability skills, and stand out from the crowd in the competitive UAE job market.
During the week, more than 10 HR professionals and six leading employers in the UAE offered the students valuable information about CVs, cover letter writing, interview skills, self-marketing tools and practices, career fair preparation and job search strategies.
Participating employers included Dubai Airport Freezone, InternsME, Citi, PricehousewaterCoopers, Du and Hilton.
A representative from InternsME said: “Students were wonderful! Attentive, eager to learn and very engaging. It’s tough to get your point across when your audience isn’t mentally present, which was not the case with the ladies of DBW. I had such a great time speaking with the future professionals of the UAE and we are excited to attend the next CV clinic to spread the know-how across the youth of the country.”
DBW student Shamma Almarzooqi, visited the CV Clinic throughout the week and commented: “I personally met with the different employers and was amazed at the positive results. Different companies offered their help and shared the key tips and tricks on how to polish your CV and how to make it outstandingly attractive. I believe that this was a great experience where I have learned new techniques on how to make my CV impeccable.”
Dr. Nadia Alhasani, DBW Dean of Academic Services, added: “It is standard practice that campuses offer workshops on CV Writing through their Career Advising Centers. The innovative approach DBW took this time is to have those who read CVs, with the intent to hire, counsel our students. They provide a professional angel that adds value to our students’ CVs.”
