2 months

The first ever Applied Media Open Day at HCT-Abu Dhabi Men’s campus (ADM) was a great success, marked by the students’ enthusiasm, attracting scores of students, faculty and staff to the variety of activities.

The open day was inaugurated by ADM Director, Eng. Abdu Rahman Al Jahoushi. “Such events should be organized more as they serve a dual purpose; to showcase the outgoing students’ work and inspire students from successive batches,” he said, promising all possible support to such future endeavours.

The occasion was also graced by Dr. Hamad Odhabi, CISAC Executive Dean, Dr. Maen Odeh, Dean of Academic Operations, and Mr. Mohamed Khanbashi, Director of College Services.

Stunning images, captured by the students featured in the Photo exhibition, were the opening attraction which continued to pull visitors throughout the event. This was followed by screenings of the graduation films where the variety in theme and execution of the films mesmerized the audience.

  • Ali Abdulla Hammadi, Senior Director Dubai Media Incorporation at the Dubai News Center
  • Rafed Alharthi, Presenter at Abu Dhabi TV
  • Mohamed Fadel Al Shamsi, Presenter-Global News at 9 pm, Abu Dhabi TV, and
  • Mohammed Al Junaibi, Presenter, Abu Dhabi TV

Mohammed Al Junaibi was joined by Ms. Rehab Abdulla, well-known Abu Dhabi TV presenter, who shared their experiences with the students about the rewards and challenges of a life in the media.

“When I see Media students’ work, I remember myself as a student,” said Ali Abdulla Hammadi, Senior Director, Dubai News Center, reminiscing his student days.

“Despite little mistakes, the films were amazing,” he added in reference to the students’ work.

“Alumni Interaction was really valuable. I also liked the kind of work done by Applied Media students and would like to study this programme,” said Ahmed, a student attendee from the Foundations programme.

Rizwan Wadood, ADM Applied Media Coordinator, summed up the vision of the Open day. “Such initiatives help give recognition to student products beyond assessments, besides bringing a recurring visibility and larger audience.”

The event owed its success to the efforts of the Applied Media faculty- Dr. Awwad Abu Zaineh, Leo Wong, Rizwan Wadood and Zakaia Cvitanovich.

After being an unqualified success the Applied Media Open Day is set to become a worth-a-wait event in ADM’s calendar.
