ADM Students Read Their Way to Success

1 year

“Books are the quietest and most constant of friends; they are the most accessible and wisest of counselors, and the most patient of teachers” – Charles William Eliot

The HCT-Abu Dhabi Men’s campus (ADM) Library was the focal point for student endeavour, as it hosted the ‘ADM Reads’ Award Ceremony to celebrate the reading achievements of Foundations students in Cycle 3, using the M-Reader programm.

M-Reader is an international, extensive-reading programme which allows students to read widely at their individual level of English.

As part of the challenge, students at all levels of the Foundations Programme competed to read the most books. After four weeks of intensive, competitive reading, the dedicated ADM readers not only  improved their English, but developed a love of books which they hope to pass on to the next generation.

The top three readers in each participating class were recognized with awards, while the top reader at each Foundations level also received prizes of books and book vouchers to encourage them to continue on the path to successful learning.

The top readers at each level were:

  • Level 1 – Abdulla Mohamed Alsayedmussa Alhashmi
  • Level 2 – Ahmed Saleh Mahdi AlKaabi
  • Level 3 – Mohamed Ali Saleh Husain Almessabi
  • Level 4- Eissa Mohamed Matar Eissa Almansoori

Level 3 winner Mohamed Ali Saleh Husain Almessabi also received additional praise for featuring on the M-Reader International Leaderboard. Well done Mohamed.

At the ceremony, the top classes at each Foundations level were awarded the perpetual trophies, with this year’s prestigious trophy for the class with the most words read overall went to the Level-3 class “CCC”, ably supported by their teacher Ms. Siobhan Flood.

This class also featured on the international leaderboard competing against students from around the globe. Congratulations to CCC!

Students are already looking forward to the next cycle as they will have another opportunity to experience the pleasure of reading in their library.
