On the occasion of the 3rd annual UAE Flag Day, the HCT-Sharjah Men’s College (SMC) organized a celebration on November 3 to honour the flag of the UAE.
Students, Day Care children, staff and faculty members stood together as the flag was raised by College Director Dr. Abdullah Al Suwaiji, together with Dr Hashim Al Zaabi, Director of Madinat Zayed and Al Ruwais Colleges, whilst the National Anthem played.
During the ceremony students pledged allegiance to the flag and expressed their feelings towards its national significance, acknowledging the flag as the symbol of national pride in the country’s independence and unity.
Dr. Abduallah Al Suwaiji, SMC Director, highlighted the values represented by UAE flag. “Hoisting the flag high on the Flag Day is to commemorate our allegiance to the flag that we hold very close to our hearts. I am glad that many students and faculty joined together to celebrate the event,” he said.
The Flag Day initiative was introduced by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, who called for the launch of a national, popular, comprehensive and continuous campaign to mark Flag Day and called on all Emiratis to hoist the flag and participate in this joyous national event.
In addition, coinciding with the UAE’s celebrations of the Flag Day, students from the Sharjah University participated by handing the UAE flag to Dr. Abdulla Al Suwaiji.
Dr. Abdulla Al Suwaiji talked about the importance of the flag and its role in instilling the good citizenship and loyalty to the country. In addition it reminds staff, faculty and the students about the role they have to do to protect it, as it reminds all of the achievements that have been made in this country.
