SWC Students Scoop Awards at Guangdong Star Creative Design Competition 2016

Level-3 Applied Communications students from the HCT-Sharjah Women’s College (SWC) have scooped the pool of awards when they won 1st, 2nd and 3rd places in the Logo Design Category of the Guangdong Star Creative Design Competition 2016, in China.

The SWC students, who were guided and supported by Henry Lim, Graphic Design faculty, also finished in the top-three places for the Poster Design and the Stationery Set Design categories of the international competition.

Operating since 1982, the competition is one of the most prestigious design competitions in China. Details of the competition are available at http://www.gbdo.com/_d276913301.htm.

The quality of entries in the competition show how Chinese design standards have improved tremendously over the past few decades and the SWC faculty and management were extremely proud of the students’ efforts in making it all the way to the finals in a tough competition and eventually winning the top awards.

Second Place: Jawahir Rida

Third Place: Asma Humoud

Logo Design 3rd place winner Sara Abdulrahman said: “I did not expect to win in the Guangdong Star Creative Design Competition and am happy that the people of China are now aware of the students in the UAE.”

Stationery Set Design 2nd place winner, Jawaher Reda added: “I couldn’t believe I was a winner at this competition.”

Khuloud Khalil, who took 2nd place in the Logo Design, said : “I was excited and pleased and felt proud of myself for having won at this competition.”
