Students at the HCT-Abu Dhabi Women’s College (ADWC) have a bright future after 60 public and private sector institutions offered approximately 1000 job opportunities, training programmes, internships and sponsorships at the college’s recent two-day career fair, held at the city and Khalifa City campuses.
The event, sponsored by the National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD), attracted over 1,200 female students who were eager to find out about the labour market requirements and the availability of jobs and internships opportunities.
Dr Addel Al Ameri, Deputy Vice Chancellor for Strategy and Communications and Director of the Abu Dhabi Women’s Colleges, said the participation by the various industries and employers in HCT’s annual career fairs reflects their keenness to attract and recruit HCT students for jobs and work placements, as well as highlighting their interest in finding out about HCT’s academic programmes and the students’ competencies.
Dr Al Ameri also thanked the many companies and entities, as well as recognizing NBAD, for their support and collaboration with this important event, and for their interaction with the students. The participating institutions covered the banking, oil and gas, human resources, business, aviation, health, space, transportation and engineering sectors.
He added that he career fair helps female students to familiarize themselves with job opportunities and employers’ requirements by facilitating direct contact with the representatives of the various public and private sector employers.
During the fair, students were taught how to prepare a CV professionally and interview skills, as well as how to showcase their academic and personal skills when meeting with the employer representatives.
