HCT students will be able to keep pace with the latest developments in the rapidly changing ICT industry after HCT took up membership of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).
HE Mohammed Omran Al Shamsi, HCT Chancellor, expressed his pride at HCT becoming a member of ITU, praising the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) for its support of national higher education institutions in the UAE.
He added that it reflects the importance placed on the development and investment of human resources in the UAE by empowering students to develop their technological skills and avail themselves of international opportunities in the field.
His Excellency said the HCT will do its utmost to optimize its experience as an ITU member, and will continue to support its advancement in applied education and to focus on providing specializations that are in demand by the labour market.
Dr Abdulllatif Al Shamsi, HCT Vice Chancellor, said the ICT industry has witnessed rapid changes and developments and therefore, higher education institutions must keep abreast of these developments in order to prepare and qualify Nationals to use their 21st century skills in the digital age.
He added that HCT is aware of these changes and of the impact of technology in the future and has been constantly establishing partnerships with international specialized authorities and corporations for the benefit of its students and the community at large.
The ITU membership will provide opportunities for HCT to participate in many conferences, events and workshops organized by the ITU regionally and globally.
The HCT will contribute by sharing views on technological developments, and students will be able to meet with technology experts which will raise their awareness and deepen their understanding of the field from a global perspective.
