The Innovative Youth Competition for Higher Education Institutions in the UAE was organized by the Prime Minister’s Office and lead by Dr. Radheya AlHashmi. There were numerous competitive participants all focusing on the theme: ‘Air Quality in the UAE’.
The purpose of the competition and award is to encourage Higher Education Institutions to partner with government entities to develop innovative solutions to overcome national agenda challenges. The goal of this cycle was to develop an innovative solution to measure real time air emission levels in the UAE and transfer the readings into a database for analyzing and reporting purposes.
After stiff competition it was HCT Ras Al Khaimah Men’s College that prevailed and was crowned the winner. They received the first prize award of 17,000 Dhs from H.E. Dr. Rashid Bin Fahad, Minister of Environment & Water and Huda AlHashimi Executive Director of Mohammed Bin Rashid Center for Government Innovation.
The winning team included Ahmed Abdulla Mohammed Abdulla Bin Taher Alnaeaimi, Hamad Saeed Mohammed Bin Hamadouh Alhebsi, Hazza Mohammed Abdulla Al Makki Alhajeri, and Yousef Husain Ahmed Ali Al Tamimi, and was mentored by Josefa Wivou and Dr. Lanka Udawatta.
Students thanked Dr. Amjed Majeed, Head of Academic Operations & Engineering Programme Chair, Ras Al Khaimah Colleges for his on-going support and initiative.
