Computer Information Science (CIS) students at the HCT-Dubai Women’s College (DWC) highlighted their skills at building computers when they participated in the inaugural PC-Build-A-Thon competition as part of the UAE Innovation Week activities.
The competition, organized by the college’s CIS Division, saw the Level-1 students not only build computer systems, but connect them to a network in the fastest and most effective manner.
Fifteen enthusiastic, semester one students, from three CIS sections, took part in the competition and demonstrated their ability to achieve success in in the male dominated field of computer and network construction with a fastest record time of completing both tasks.
The winning team members are Khawla Jasem Ghanem Obaid Alzaabi, Maryam Khalid Obaid Alradha Alsuwai and Maryiam Salim Obaid Barman Almazrou.
CIS Computer Hardware and Networking faculty member, Zainab Rasheed Fahad, who mentored the students, said: “Such competitions inspire and boost students’ determination and build their confidence and motivation to study and deepen their knowledge in all fields of Information Technology.”
