FWC Business Faculty Receives 2015 ACBSP Teaching Excellence Award

2 years

Dr Alfred Miller, Business Faculty member at the HCT-Fujairah Women’s College FWC) has been named a regional recipient of the 2015 ACBSP Teaching Excellence Award.

The Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) recognizes individuals each year who exemplify teaching excellence in the classroom.

Dr Miller will be honoured, together with other regional recipients, at the ACBSP Conference 2015, held from June 12-15 in Philadelphia. Two International Teaching Excellence Award recipients will be announced at a special Salute to Regions luncheon, one from a baccalaureate/graduate degree-granting institution and one from an associate degree-granting institution. As a regional recipient, Dr. Miller is now a candidate for the international award.

“Dr Miller’s dedication to his students is exemplary, often working evenings and weekends beyond his schedule to ensure that his class material is well prepared, student work has been correctly assessed; maintaining his professional working ethos,” said Shaindra Sewbaran, Chair of Business, at the HCT-Fujairah Colleges.

“Dr Miller has regularly received very positive feedback from his students in faculty evaluations — in some cases receiving 100% approval from the students in his classes,” Sewbaran added.

The ACBSP Associate Degree Commission established the International Teaching Excellence Award in 1995 to recognize outstanding classroom teachers. ACBSP is the only specialized body for business schools that presents an award recognizing excellence in teaching, open to application by the entire membership.

“It is more important than ever for business programs to produce graduates who are ready to enter the global marketplace,” said Jeffrey Alderman, ACBSP Chief Executive Officer. “ACBSP has a mission to develop, promote and recognize best practices that contribute to continuous improvement of business education. Recognition of teaching excellence is one way we achieve this goal,” he stated.
