5 years

A group of final-year Business Solutions students from the HCT-Dubai Women’s College (DWC) Computer & Information Sciences (CIS) Faculty recently attended an IEEE workshop on Innovation Entrepreneurship, in support of the Faculty’s ongoing commitment to Learning by Doing.

The workshop was held during the IEEE UAE Chapter’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) held at Kempinski Hotel at the Mall of The Emirates in Dubai, and was presented by Dr Keith Jones, the Director Industry Engagement and Technology Transfer at Khalifa University.

The workshop introduced some of the key concepts of entrepreneurship and business start-ups such as how to evaluate and protect a great idea for a product or company will be discussed, what to put in a business case, and how to present your ideas to sponsors.

DWC CIS students Reem Hasan Ahmed Ali Alhammadi and Salama Mohammed Saif Khamis AlAmeri thoroughly enjoyed the highly informative session and felt that such session would attract them towards technology-based entrepreneurial activities in fields such as electronic and mobile commerce after their graduation.

Dr Nasser Nassiri, Associate Dean of CIS at HCT, said: “HCT encourages student participation in key workshops and events and this enable the students to enrich their academic knowledge with soft skills required to shape out a successful career.”

Dr Vish, Acting Chair of CIS at the Dubai Women’s College and IEEE UAE steering committee member, said: “We are grateful to the IEEE UAE section for organising professional workshops and seminars that help the student community in the UAE.”
