The HCT-Ras Al Khaimah Women’s College (RKWC) participated in the Best Traditional Costumes Competition that was organised by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Community Development as a part of the 43rd National Day celebration in the UAE.

The competition was open to students and graduates from different universities and colleges across the nation. Participants were divided into two groups according to age – ages 7-15 years, and ladies aged 16 years or older. Several RKWC students entered the competition in both categories.

Fatima Rashid and Maryam Mohammed won the second place prize and Aamena Ebrahim was awarded third place prize in the 7-15 years old category. In the Ladies’ fashion category, Meera Helal took second place, while Aamna Helal was awarded third place.

The jury consisted of the most popular fashion designers in the UAE – Jameela Al Mansoor, Muna Al Mansoori, along with Maryam Al Sheebani and Ameena Khaleel from the Ministry of Culture.

The jury complimented the students’ work and took time to give each one advice on how to improve her skills and talents. It was a great experience for the girls who walked away motivated and ready to pursue their dreams as fashion designers.

The event was held in The General Authority of Youth and Sports Welfare in Dubai.
