More than 50 senior-level International Business and Accounting students from the HCT-Sharjah Colleges attended 1the 0th World Islamic Economic Forum under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, last month at the Madinat Jumeirah Conference Centre, Dubai.
The event, organized by the World Islamic Economic Forum Foundation and Dubai Chamber of Commerce & Industry, aimed to enhance the economic well-being of Muslim nations and Muslim communities worldwide.
The conference was a unique opportunity to expand students’ knowledge about the economic growth and developments of Islamic Banking and Islamic Finance through increasing trade and business opportunities. Students learned about the development of Financial Islamic capital markets and gained awareness about prospects of cooperation with non-Muslim countries as part of international business relations.
The students attended an enlightening face to face conversation with Dr Abdul Halm Bin Ismail, Award Recipient of the Royal Award for Islamic Finance (Malaysia) on Islamic Banking. They also had the opportunity to attend an inspiring panel of discussion with financial scholars from Italy, Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur, Kingdom of Bahrain and United Arab Emirates on The Role of Islamic Capital Market in Economic Growth.
The insights gained during this visit contribute to the students’ global view of business and a better understanding of the perspectives of growth and positioning of the UAE as a hub of Islamic banking and finances.
