Sharjah HCT Students and Staff help Syrian Refugees with Donations

4 years

From November 3 to December 10, 2013, students and staff at the Sharjah Higher Colleges of Technology were engaged in a vigorous donation campaign to collect warm clothes and blankets for Syrian refugees ahead of the winter season.

The campaign, organised by the Student Services Office, supported the “Warm Hearts” initiative which was run as part of the “Big Heart” campaign for Syrian refugee children.

Big Heart was launched by HH Sheikha Jawaher Bint Mohammad Al Qasimi, wife of His Highness, the Ruler of Sharjah, Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs and UNHCR Eminent Advocate for Refugee Children, to save countless Syrian refugees from a terribly harsh winter.

Dr. Muhadditha Al Hashimi, Sharjah HCT Director, commended the “Warm Hearts” initiative, praising HH Sheikha Jawaher’s great efforts and contributions to help Syrian refugees. She also emphasised that Sharjah HCT is keen to provide all forms of assistance and support to the Syrian people until the crisis in their country is settled.

The donated items, worth AED 20,000, were delivered on December 10 to the Executive Office of Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher.

Special thanks go to the engineering students, faculty and staff for their outstanding donations and contributions to the campaign.
