Madinat Zayed and Ruwais Colleges participated in the very successful WRDC Universities Fair al Gharbia 2012 last week.
The Higher Colleges works closely with the local community, supporting and promoting events held by stakeholders. As well as setting up a stand, students from both the men’s and women’s colleges in the Western Region supported WRDC during the event, welcoming visitors, showing schools around and helping participants.
Fatima Al Marzouqi from WRDC expressed her appreciation. “Your students did great work as organizers. I am really proud of them,” she said.
It was a very valuable learning experience for the students, who find out about working in the world outside of the colleges, and gain some basic working skills, like managing their time and following instructions.
Over 30 academic institutions from all over UAE came to Al Gharbia to promote their courses to school students from grade 12 and grade 11. There were two separate locations, one in Madinat Zayed and one in Ghayathi, to ensure that all schools could attend from across the vast region.
As well as informing students of the educational opportunities available for them at The Higher Colleges of Technology, the colleges listened carefully to the students, their hopes and dreams for the future, so that ways could be found of making their ambitions a reality.
“Madinat Zayed and Ruwais Colleges have a strong community outreach program, working with employers from the region and organisations like the WRDC who support the development of Al Gharbia, as well as working closely with the local schools, supporting students with their higher education choices and their applications,” Dr. Phil Quirke, Director of the HCT’s Western Region Colleges, said.
