Fujairah Men’s College students compete in the Terry Fox Run

A Group of business students from Fujairah Men’s College participated in two evening campaigns held at Fujairah.

Rashed Salem Mohamed Salem Zohari, Hussain Ali Ali Hilal, Omar Ahmed Mohamed Khalfan Bani Hamour, Ali Saeed Rashed Mohamed Al Moushri, volunteered to help raise money for the second Fujairah Terry Fox Run which was held on Saturday, 25th February.

Terry Fox T-shirts were sold by students and all the money raised went directly to donations.  In addition, students helped raise the awareness of Terry Fox, his humanitarian story and long battle with cancer. The students managed to collect donations from T-shirt selling, which exceeded AED3,000.

On the other side, the Organizing Committee was pleased with the increase in participation from volunteer groups and businesses who donated refreshments at the finish line.

Families with children and baby trolleys, children and adults with skateboards, rollerblades and bicycles participated.  There was a strong sense of community and a good time was had by all.

This year nearly 700 individuals participated in the run including some VIPS from Fujairah, the Canadian Consul General from Dubai and a representative from the Cancer Research Unit UAEU University.  This represents a 64% increase in participation from last year’s event. With the efforts of all the community raised almost 50,000 AED an increase of 68% over last year.
