The Higher Colleges of Technology’s Abu Dhabi Women’s College held a one-day Career Fair this week, where almost three dozen prospective employers mingled with hundreds of interested students and alumnae.
ADWC students and graduates from were joined by senior students from the HCT’s Khalifa City Women’s College during the one-day fair.
Employers representing organizations from throughout Abu Dhabi and the other Emirates interacted with graduating students trained in information technology, business, applied media, health sciences, education, and engineering. Continuing students were also able to participate as companies gave presentations during class breaks.
Major organizations represented at the Career Fair included those in the banking, petroleum, consulting, healthcare, education, insurance, and tourism sectors. In addition to hiring ADWC and KCWC graduates for full-time positions, several employers were seeking candidates for sponsorships, part-time work, and summer jobs.
“This year’s Career Fair represents another high point in a series of increasingly successful interactions with employers. This Fair provides our students and graduates with a wide range of opportunities for career advancement within Abu Dhabi,” Dr. Jace Hargis, the Director of both ADWC and KCWC, said.
“It’s especially meaningful to see companies coming back for more graduates after having good experiences with previous hires from our Colleges,” Dr Hargis added.
Students approached employers’ stands to discuss open positions and the qualifications companies expect. Some job seekers who brought their CVs were able to fix times for further interviews.
After several conversations with prospective employers, graduating student Shaikha stated, “This has been a great experience for me. I learned about different companies, and now I feel that I am closer to finding a suitable job at the right company for me.”
